Cellular Phone Plans

Cellular phone plans can be discouragingly confusing. Unless you're a super-savvy consumer who loves the hunt of getting a great bargain, you might feel like throwing in the towel after reading a few cell phone ads. Choosing cellular phone plans doesn't have to be difficult, however, as long as you follow a few rules.

Choosing Cellular Phone Plans

The number one rule when choosing a cellular phone plan is to get enough minutes to meet your calling needs. Too many people opt for a cheap plan because they don't want to pay a high monthly fee, only to find themselves constantly going over their allotted minutes. This is inevitably much more expensive than if you had picked a slightly higher plan.

The second thing to keep in mind when picking a plan is what you get along with the plan. If there's no free phone or discounted phone, move on. There are too many great deals out there to sign an annual contract without getting some freebies. And don't be afraid to ask for free accessories like headsets, leather belt holders and removable faces.

Finally, when choosing cellular phone plans you must pay attention to the fine print. Make sure the minutes you're getting aren't night and weekend minutes, and see if they rollover to the next month if you don't use them. Getting surprised with huge overage charges is one of the worst things about having a cell phone, but it can be avoided if you do your research!
