National Do Not Call Registration

National Do Not Call registration can be done by dialing a toll-free phone number, or by logging onto a website. If you are sick and tired of receiving uninvited phone calls from solicitors in the privacy of your own home, then you are not alone. Millions of Americans nationwide share these feelings with you, and have filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission as a result.

What has come from this abundance of complaints has been the new Do Not Call Law. It simply states that direct marketing companies may not dial any phone number that is registered on the DNC list. If a telemarketing representative knowingly or unknowingly dials a registered number, he or she could incur an $11,000 fine and/or the loss of his or her job. The FTC, the FCC, and state law enforcement are strictly keeping an eye on these guidelines and following up with any complaints to the fullest extent of the law.

Put Your Number on the National Do Not Call Registration

If you want to stop getting unwanted phone calls, then it would behoove you to sign up with the National Do Not Call Registration, either by phoning in or logging onto their website. To call in your registration, you would simply dial the toll-free number, 1-888-382-1222 from the number you wish to register. To register online, visit WWW.DONOTCALL.GOV, and submit your information this way.

It takes three months for this registration to go into effect. However, once it does, you should notice a large drop-off in the number of unsolicited phone calls you receive on a daily basis. Your registration is good for five years, and you can remove your phone numbers at any time.
