No Telemarketing List

The No Telemarketing List enables consumers to register their names in order to stop unwanted phone calls to their homes from solicitors. This National Do Not Call List is the result of many years of consumer complaints filed with the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission. Changes have been put into place since President Bush signed the Do Not Call Implementation Act into law.

It is not difficult to get your number registered on this No Telemarketing List. You can register your number in one of two ways. You can call the toll-free number at 1-888-382-1222 from the phone which you would like to register. Or, you can log onto the FTC's consumer website at WWW.DONOTCALL.GOV, and submit your number this way.

Expect Change with the No Telemarketing List

You can expect some positive changes three months after you have registered your phone numbers. Once this waiting period is up, you will notice a big drop-off in the number of unwanted calls you receive each day. Keep in mind that non-profit organizations, companies you currently do business with, long-distance phone companies, and insurance companies are exempt from this law.

Your registered number will remain on the DNC List for five years. You will have to re-register your number after this time if you wish to remain active on the list. Feel free to log onto the FTC's website from time to time to read up on changes to this law and new guidelines facing the telemarketing industry.
