For the ultimate in user friendly GPS units, it is difficult to beat the features and value of the Garmin Etrex Vista. At the top of Garmin's Etrex product line, yet still remarkably affordable, the Vista packs a lot of functionality into a small, lightweight package. These twelve-channel handheld GPS receivers have become one of the most popular choices, and for good reason.

This small four inch by two inch unit is intelligently designed for easy, one handed operation without obscuring the four-level gray LCD screen. While the screen may seem small at first glance, it has better resolution than most other units in its price range. Its sturdy, waterproof housing can handle the accidental splash or dunk in water, and will run for up to twelve hours on just two AA batteries.

Etrex Vista: At The Top of Its Class

The Etrex Vista includes virtually all the features of the basic Etrex, and then some. It comes standard not only with basemaps of North and South America, but with a barometric altimeter and an electronic compass. The Vista is WAAS compatible, which means its position measurements can be accurate down to three meters, providing you are in range of a WAAS correction signal.

The 24 megabytes of built in memory allows you to store additional mapping data from Garmin's MapSource CD'd, routes, points of interest, and up to 1000 waypoints. Best of all, the Etrex Vista is easily configured to suit the individual user's needs. If you are in search of a feature-rich, user friendly GPS unit, you can't go wrong with the Etrex Vista.
