The Garmin GPS unit is a universal favorite. Light and easy to read, this unit is used by hikers, hunters, and geocatchers, as well as sailors and other outdoor enthusiasts. Outdoor stores find that this is often their best-selling unit, and that they have difficulty keeping Garmin products in stock.

GPS units have changed the way we view adventure. It used to be that even the most intrepid hikers would look askance at the wilds of Borneo or the Australian outback, knowing that the maps available were sketchy, at best. Now, people can know where they are at all times, for greater enjoyment of challenging trips.

Garmin GPS Units are Universal Favorites

Keeping in mind that much of our planet is covered by jungle, rain forest, desert, and water, it makes sense that anyone wanting to get a taste of the great outdoors would invest in one of the many GPS navigation systems on the market. The famous Dakar desert road race relies on these units to keep their contestants alive.

There are all kinds of GPS units available these days. You can find them in cars, on wristwatches, and as handheld units. They are applicable to a variety of situations, from mountain biking to treasure hunting to emergency search and rescue.
