Wireless Headset Microphones

Wireless headset microphones are popular with computer users. They are comfortable and leave your hands free to do other tasks. If you don't stay at your desk, a wireless model is the right one for you. That way you won't have to take it off and put it back on every time you leave or return to your desk. Instead, you can carry on a conversation while you go to the fax machine or walk around your office.

Styles of Wireless Headset Microphones

Most wireless headset microphones are headband style; they go over the top of the head and have two earphones. There are convertible, multi-use headsets that can be changed from headband style to fit as an over the ear style. If you have a preference as to which ear you need your earphone on, or which side of your mouth you want the microphone on, make sure it will work on that side before you buy it. Most are adjustable.

If you work in a quiet office, wireless headset microphones with one earphone will be fine. However, in an environment with a lot of background noise, you might want two earphones, which block out noise better and allow you to hear your caller or what you're listening to on your computer.

Having an adjustable boom is another important consideration. You should be able to move the boom wherever you want it, and then it should stay put while you use it. Also, if you are planning to use the headset for the telephone, be sure to have a mute button in case you are interrupted. That way your external conversation won't be heard by the person on the other end of the line.
