As multimedia and AV content become increasingly important aspects of modern business, audio visual equipment rental companies also become increasingly important to many businesspeople and people in the entertainment industries. In the last 10 years, AV equipment and multimedia equipment has matured into truly powerful and user-friendly gear, allowing busy businessmen and women to take advantage of the power and flexibility of AV gear. Likewise, companies that offer audio visual equipment rentals have become full service institutions capable of servicing the needs of the functions ranging from the smallest business meetings to large conventions and trade shows.

Many audio visual equipment rental firms specialize in fulfilling either the needs of business clients or entertainment industry clients. Business-oriented firms must be able to supply businessmen with all kinds of presentation equipment, as well as equipment fully outfitted for maximum business connectivity. They must also be able to keep up with the hectic pace of the business world, which means having the capacity to process rush orders and deliver equipment as soon as possible, often overnight.

Audio Visual Equipment Rental for Businesses

Most business-oriented firms specialize in the needs of businesspeople who are organizing displays for trade shows and other large demonstrations. LCD projectors and audio equipment are some of the most common rental items, and many audio visual equipment rental companies offer presentation packages including a full suite of equipment that is powerful enough to fill an auditorium with sharp, clear graphics and high-fidelity audio. Many firms also offer large (up to 61-inch) plasma screen displays as well as other ancillary gear such as projection screens and speaker stands.

Other commonly rented business equipment included laptop and personal computers. One strength of large, national audio visual equipment rental firms is that they can supply clients with many computers at once, and even supply networking hardware and software. In many cases, they can custom install any hardware needed by a client, and can supply any software that client has the proper licenses for.

Though many AV rental firms may specialize in large displays and trade show equipment, most also cater to smaller business functions as well. In general, they can supply clients with smaller displays such as LCD screens and plasma monitors, as well as items such as electronic whiteboards and document cameras. Of course, most rental firms also offer business staples such as copy machines, fax machines, and printers.

Local and National Audio Visual Equipment Rental Firms

In most major American cities, consumers have the choice of renting from a local firm or from a national firm. Each has strengths unique to their position, and may be suited for different uses. In general, national audio visual equipment rental companies can offer more gear and possibly more technical support, but local companies can provide other related services, such as production or mastering services.

National firms can take advantage of their size to procure equipment from many locations, including all of their regional warehouses. Such warehouses generally stock hundreds of kinds of equipment, and enough computers and monitors to create whole temporary networks. Most also offer extended loan programs, allowing clients to rent equipment for months at a time, as well as full-service technical support from highly trained technicians.

In contrast, locally based companies often have less equipment at their disposal than national companies. In many cases, however, rental firms are part of local production houses, meaning that they can offer production services ranging from conceptualization to execution and post-production. Customers who are looking for more hands-on and creative technical services may find local companies more suited to their needs.
