F Connector CablesWritten by Serena Berger F connector cables, also known as RF cables, are the most commonly used of all the audio and video cable because cable companies around the country use them to deliver television service to your homes. These are coaxial cables that transmit both audio and video feeds within the same line. Chances are that your cable company provided standard cables to you if you signed up for service and had them install your equipment. One of the problems with these cables, however, is that the signal may weaken if you have a long cable. If you have decided to run cable to a second room, you could split the incoming cable--but then you would have to buy another coaxial cable to connect to the splitter. The signal received by your second television will be weaker because a splitter is being used and the signal is now passing through a second cable. One way around this is to purchase an integrated splitter and amplifier which will boost the signal that is being passed to your second television. Types of F Connector Cables If you receive television service from a satellite service, you need to use "RG-6" cables. These cables are capable of passing the digital cable signal with as little high-frequency loss as possible. While these cables may be more expensive than the cables given to you by your service provider, using them is the only way that you will get the picture quality that digital broadcasts promise.
