Some home weather stations, including the Davis Vantage Pro, straddle the line between consumer good and professional tools. The Vantage Pro is available at consumer prices, but like the majority of Davis products, has enough features to be used for many different professional applications as well. This versatility makes it a popular choice for weather enthusiasts, small laboratories, and small farming businesses.

Davis Instruments is a California-based company that entered the market for precision tools over 40 years ago with a single line of sextant (a marine navigation tool). Since then, Davis has grown to produce not only marine products, but automotive and, of course, weather products as well. Davis Instruments has kept a consistent focus on developing tools of safety, usability, and convenience.

Davis Weather Products and The Davis Vantage Pro

Their line of weather products include highly customizable weather stations (like the Davis Vantage Pro) and a line of specialized sensory devices for a range of specific applications. The weather stations are customizable in that you can not only pre-set the way the weather station manages incoming data, but you can also connect your weather station to your home computer for greater control over data management and record-keeping.

Davis Instruments' line of sensory devices is engineered specifically for use with weather stations like the Vantage Pro and the GroWeather Station. The sensors wirelessly transmit data that is accessible from any Davis weather station, allowing you to use any sensor available in combination with the console of your choice. If you are looking to customize a system from the ground up, Davis offers basic "standard" consoles with minimal built-in features. All other sensors are available as optional purchases.
