Nursing employment opportunities are plentiful because there is currently a shortage of nurses in the medical industry. Because of this shortage, hospitals and health clinics are offering more employee benefits, higher pay and signing bonuses for new nurse employees. The nursing industry is one of the few industries that is not lacking in available positions for new job positions.

Options of Nursing Employment Opportunities

There are many different types of nursing employment opportunities that nurses can choose from. Choices include hospital jobs, office jobs, nursing home jobs, or travel nursing jobs. Hospital jobs mostly employ nurses to give basic bedside care. These nurses may specialize in areas such as intensive care, emergency room, surgery, pediatrics, maternity, or treatment of cancer.

For office jobs, nurses will work in clinics, surgical centers, physicians' offices, or emergency medical centers. Nursing home jobs provide service to elderly patients in nursing homes. Some of these positions may require nurses to visit patients at their homes on occasion. Nursing home nurses must have the means to work independently and the ability to supervise health aides or assistants.

Travel nursing is currently the most popular of all nursing employment opportunities. These positions are great for nurses who enjoy traveling and like to change locations and assignments in their work. Travel nurses are used in many hospitals, health clinics and at camps. They are also desirable because they pay well, offer great employee benefits, and offer nurses free housing for all job assignments.
