Inspirational speakers take the stage and, with just their voice and a microphone, can sometimes change the way we think about ourselves and the world. Gifted inspirational speakers can take a less-than-extraordinary gathering and turn it into a truly memorable event. People return to family, friends, and work newly motivated and a new sense of possibility.

Sometimes all that inspirational speakers have to do is tell their own story. That category includes Coretta Scott King As the wife as slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Coretta Scott King was a firsthand eyewitness to the tumultuous changes that occured in the 1960s. She was an integral part of the fight for civil rights.

The leader of many marches and the poster woman for politically active mothers, Coretta Scott King became a national icon for her refusal to stop fighting and her continual dignity under pressure. Even after the death of her husband, King remained politically active, founding the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, which is devoted to training people in the art of social protest.

Inspirational Speakers Change Our Perspective

Currently, King works for myriad causes, most notably urban renewal programs and the social justice movement. Listening to Coretta Scott King speak provides a connection between the present and the past that few inspirational speakers can match. She is a living symbol of the power of protest and the strength of few against many. King's story and her continued strength provide a strong basis for the motivation of both groups and individuals to aspire to something better.
