The site was founded in 1996 as a resource for PC gamers, and soon expanded to cover console video games as well. Gamers become heroic Jedi Knights, and must confront and defeat the evil Sith Lords, who are attempting to take over the galaxy. Jedi Knights advance through the story by defeating various Sith opponents in combat, usually in a lightsaber duel.

The "Sith Lords" game features a storyline that predates the events in the theatrical Star Wars prequel trilogy, but alludes to events that take place during the recently released "Revenge of the Sith" film. Gamespot also ranks the "Revenge of the Sith" video game among the best new Xbox titles. This adventure mirrors the events in the newest Star Wars movie, and allows players to become several different characters at various points in the game.
