Cash Back Credit Cards

Among the most popular rewards systems associated with credit cards are the frequent flyer miles and the cash back system. Frequent flyer miles were among the first bonus systems conceived, offering free airline travel to customers who make a certain number of purchases. However, not everyone travels frequently enough to make use of all the frequent flyer miles they may accumulate.

Other Rewards Systems

The next most popular rewards system was the cash back system. With this system, a small percentage of a customer's total purchases is given back to them as cash. This can take the form of actual cash, but is usually applied as credit to the account.

Often, cash back credit cards are associated with a certain company or brand. These can sometimes have a store's logo on the card itself, but other times may simply be associated with a standard card. These cards offer a higher percentage of cash back on money spent on the target brands or at specific stores. This works in the favor of the customer, credit card company, and store--so many people have credit cards that offer cash back at their favorite stores.

When applying for a credit card, make sure that you look beyond the rewards. While cash back may seem a good way to save money on everything, you need to make sure you're saving on all fronts. Look for a low APR and no annual fees before you look to the rewards program of a card to make sure you're getting the best deal you can.
