Credit Cards OnlineWritten by Jared Vincenti Thanks to the Internet, almost all financial matters can be handled online. Whether checking your bank balance, paying your bills, or applying for a credit card, almost everything can be handled on the Web. This makes it especially easy when applying for credit cards, as you can compare the offers of various companies, and take all the time you want to read over the fine print. Once you have decided on the credit card you wish to apply for, simply go to the website of the bank or company that you have chosen and click on the "Apply" button. From there, you should be guided through the steps of the application. A credit card application will ask for your name, address (present and former), and social security number, among other information. If you already have good credit, you can sometimes be approved instantly for a credit card. However, if you have damaged credit or if there are any inconsistencies in your application, it can take 7 to 10 days for it to be reviewed. Don't panic if a company asks for more time to review your application--you can still be approved, but the company just wants to double check everything. Watch Out for FraudsUnfortunately, the Internet has also made it quite easy for identity thieves to steal credit information. Because of this, make sure you are applying directly to a reputable company, and that you have a secure connection. If you are unsure whether your connection is secure, check the "Help" section on your web browser.
