Credit Cards For People With Bad CreditWritten by Jared Vincenti The credit system can seem exclusive and unfair sometimes. People with good credit get loans and credit cards, which they pay off in order to maintain their good credit. But if you've ever had bad credit, you have a hard time getting credit, and it seems impossible to rebuild your credit. After all, how can you show you're a good customer if you can't get a chance? Thankfully, the credit system does offer opportunities for people with bad credit to make up for past mistakes. Ways to Rebuild Your CreditIf you have damaged credit that isn't completely dismal, you may still qualify for a credit card. However, this card will probably have a very high interest rate. After all, a company that offers a credit card to someone with bad credit can charge whatever they want. However, this can be disaster for the applicant, as it's hard to rebuild credit when the APR on your only card is so crippling that you barely use it. One way to avoid being gouged by high interest rates is to apply for a secured credit card. With a secured card, you put down a deposit of 100 to 150 percent of the credit limit on your card. The credit card company takes your deposit and puts it in an account, where it goes untouched. If you neglect to make a payment, the amount due is subtracted from your account. This way, a credit card company is taking a minimal risk by issuing you a card. Thus, you can get a fair interest rate on your card, and a great opportunity to rebuild your credit. Secured cards are the best option for people with damaged credit, since it gives you credit without simultaneously taking away your ability to make payments.
