When filling out a credit card application, there are many things about which you'll be asked. If you follow my advice and apply for your credit cards online, you'll click around and see that with minor differences, most applications are the same. This holds true for most credit card offers, including rebate credit cards and low interest credit cards.

Filling Out Applications 101

No, I don't think you need a 101 tutorial in order to figure out how to fill in the blanks. However, some people are like I was not too long ago, and have never gone about filling out a credit card application. For those of you in that boat, we'd like to offer you an idea of what to expect.

The first thing you'll see when filling out a credit card application is a space for your personal information. These are the basics, like name, address, phone number, and social security number. You'll also be asked to offer information such as whether you own or rent, since this can go towards establishing your credit worthiness.

The credit card company will also want to know about your job and income. I recommend that no matter what your situation, you be honest. Even if you've had a stretch of unemployment and look like a bad credit risk, there are credit card offers out there for you that can help you get back on your feet.
