Credit reports online often claim to be free. Before you take the hook, line and sinker, be sure to know what you're getting yourself into. There are some basic questions to ask and concerns to be raised before you sign on the dotted line.

Many credit monitoring services offer you free credit reports online. This is often dependent on you signing up for a recurring paid subscription-type service. Make sure that the report you are requesting is free and there are no strings attached.

Thorough Credit Reports Online

Most online reports, especially those that come with no price tag, only offer the data from one of the major credit bureaus. Keep in mind that not all of your accounts are reported to each bureau. This in turn, will not give you a completely accurate reading on your score.

Ask to see a sample report before you agree to anything. This will give you a good idea of what to expect. Without asking the right questions you may find yourself locked into an agreement you never meant to enter.
