Chocolate Truffles

When you think of chocolate truffles, what do you imagine? If you have ever indulged in these gourmet chocolates you probably picture a fancy box filled with little round pieces of the most exquisite chocolate filled with nuts, creams, ganache, marzipan, cherries, and praline. The truth is, chocolate truffles are the cream of the crop in the world of chocolate. Compare a chocolate truffle to a penthouse suite. Obviously you would much rather live in the top-story suite that overlooks Manhattan than the apartment on the bottom floor overlooking the dumpster.

Chocolate truffles are made with only the finest ingredients--or they should be. When shopping for chocolate truffles, make sure you take a look at the list of ingredients. There should be no preservatives, additives, or artificial fillers. Furthermore, you want to make sure that the truffles contain at least 30 percent cocoa. If the percentage of cocoa is less than 30 percent, hydrogenated oil was probably used instead.

Truffles are a delicacy. They are the ideal size to satisfy your craving for some luscious chocolate. Furthermore, their decadent fillings are the perfect complement to the fine Belgian chocolate. Choose fruit-filled truffles, or perhaps hazelnuts, almonds, or praline fillings would satisfy your hunger better.

Although price is not always indicative of quality, you should realize the best chocolate truffles do not come cheap. Fortunately, truffles are so filling that you can get away with purchasing just a few at a time. If you do not have a great deal of money to spend on truffles, buy a box of four or six and enjoy every mouthwatering bite.
