Parties are the perfect escape from reality for both host and guest. Nothing takes the gloom off of a dull week like the promise of a fabulous gathering on the weekend. Formal parties are often a great change from the every day routine, especially if your friends are predominantly the casual types. Throw in some music and some lovely decorations and you will provide an unforgettable experience.

One great idea for an elegant party is to pair luxurious foods together with fine wine and champagne. Set up stations around the party room with various delicacies--from smoked fish, to caviar, to fine chocolate. If you are serving foods that are particularly out of the ordinary, set cards next to each dish that explains each item or ingredient and how best to enjoy it.

If you choose to have a dinner party, take the time to set up candles and keep the lights low. It might be a good idea to hire someone who can serve the food for you, leaving you more time and energy to socialize from the head of the table. Plan a few courses, keep the wine and conversation flowing throughout the evening, and you will most likely wind up with a stunningly successful party.
