Exotic Party Foods

When choosing a menu for a party, there is often a temptation to stick with tried and true favorites. Hosts are very often concerned that their guest list may include picky eaters and therefore choose bland and uninteresting food over other, more exciting fare. If you are a slightly more adventurous host, try mixing in a few exotic foods to give your next party some extra flair.

Exotic Party Foods

It is helpful to start with a good cookbook when planning your party menu. It can lead you in the direction of some delicious appetizers and entrees, as well as give you great tips on how to purchase and prepare foods that may not be familiar. For instance, if you are interested in fois gras, a good cookbook can help you decide how best to serve it to your guests.

Caviar and truffles are wonderful additions to any party menu. Caviar can be served as a first course, either as a canapé with garnish or, if you can afford high quality caviar, unaccompanied. Truffles can easily be paired with baked brie cheese for a decadent appetizer.

These foods, and others, are most easily found in a gourmet food store. While many of the larger grocery stores have a gourmet food aisle, they will not always have the quality and variety that you may be seeking. Items can also be found on the Internet. This is most helpful when using particularly specific or rare ingredients and is often the most cost-effective option.
