Chocolate Kosher Parve

The market for kosher chocolate is growing fast. Many gourmet chocolate companies have discovered that producing a kosher version of their products will open up a significant market for them. There are restrictions on chocolate for Jews though. Because traditional types of chocolate contain dairy products, their use is limited in the Jewish diet.

A food that is neither meat nor dairy is referred to as parve, or neutral. So if you see a chocolate product referred to as parve kosher chocolate, it means that it contains neither meat nor dairy products. Jews can eat it with impunity, therefore, and without restriction. There is another interesting connotation though. Because it contains only ingredients of a vegetable nature, parve kosher chocolate is perfect for vegans and anyone who suffers from allergies to dairy products.

Quality of Kosher Chocolate

Due to the stringent requirements of any kosher food, as far as ingredients and production conditions are concerned, you are highly unlikely to find kosher chocolate products to be of any but the highest standards. Because it costs money to produce food according to kosher requirements, nothing but the very highest quality can be economically produced. It is a safe assumption that chocolate or anything else that is marked kosher is of gourmet quality or very near it.

Perhaps due to this impeccable association between kosher and quality, people are beginning to request kosher chocolate. In addition to kosher chocolate from some famous names in the chocolate world, many Jewish firms have begun to specialize in chocolate. Small wonder; it's a delicious product and it is also highly acceptable as a gift for any occasion.
