Sign Holders

Signs in businesses, organizations and retail stores help keep employees, customers and potential partners in the loop. This may mean placing signs at the beginning and ends of queues, near restrooms and payphones, and wherever hazards may arise. Some signs are placed merely for informational purposes while others help prevent accidents and lower the chances of confusion.

The placement of sign holders largely depends on how they are designed. Some are made exclusively for table and countertops and can sit vertically on any flat surface area. Other holders are designed for installation on top of stanchions and other crowd control equipment.

The best holders feature clear glass or plastic brackets that are visible from both sides. One side can display information for customers entering the area, while the other side can display a thanks to those who are exiting. It is important that outdoor-area sign holders be completely waterproof and weatherproof to prevent moisture from entering the brackets and causing ink to run.

Finding the Best Size for Sign Holders

It takes a bit of research and experimentation to figure out what size and shape fulfills a particular need. The best way to do so is to print out the words on a piece of paper and judge where it will best be viewed and which font is most easily readable to the visiting eye. Another option is to purchase pre-made sign holders that feature information and warnings such as "Authorized Personnel Only," "Enter Here," "Exit Only," or "Do Not Enter."
