Another name for green tea could be antioxidant green tea, because the potency of the antioxidants found in green tea is out of this world. You would be hard-pressed to find other natural foods that have the preventative properties that are found in green teas. Asian nations have enjoyed good health and lower incidences of cancer, heart disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, arthritis pain, and memory loss due to their high consumption of good green tea.

Not all green tea is created equal, meaning that many of the varieties you see in your local grocery store are of poor quality, and they do not have the same healing powers of the superior antioxidant green tea selections found in specialty stores. When purchasing green tea, you may have to spend more in order to get a product that has been carefully prepared to retain its antioxidant powers. The very best green teas come from the first harvests out of Japan. Teas that come from the third or fourth harvests are not as good and will not have the same level of antioxidant power.

The Power of Antioxidant Green Tea

You cannot live in America without hearing about the health benefits associated with antioxidants. It seems that every new study that comes out reveals more promising news regarding disease prevention through the consumption of foods that contain high levels of antioxidants. The last few years have shown us how beneficial green tea is to our overall level of health.

Green teas boost the immune system, keep bacterial infections in check, fight off tooth decay and gum disease, lower the risks of heart disease and stroke, decrease high blood pressure and cholesterol, help with arthritis pain relief, and even assist people with Alzheimer's disease by improving memory. It seems unbelievable that drinking a cup or two a day of green tea can prove to be that beneficial. However, the verdict is in, and all eyes are focused on this wonder beverage for providing optimal health and longevity.
