A good percentage of Americans admit to having difficulty retaining information from time to time, which can often be attributed to chronic stress. The truth is, you do not have to be elderly to suffer from memory loss, and therefore it becomes necessary to fine-tune the cells in the brain to function properly. Furthermore, when you are under chronic stress, you tend to sleep less soundly, and this continues to have a snowball effect on the brain's ability to retain information.

Green teas have been shown to improve cognitive abilities in people of all ages, not just the elderly. In addition, memory improvement was noticeable in patients with Alzheimer's disease. It is believed that green tea has ingredients in it that inhibit the activity of enzymes associated with the development of Alzheimer's disease.

Green Tea and Memory Improvement

A research team based out of England investigated the benefits of green and black tea, as well as coffee, in a series of laboratory experiments. What was discovered was that drinking green tea regularly seems to have the same affect on the brain as many prescription drugs for Alzheimer's disease. This is fantastic news for patients already diagnosed with this devastating condition, as well as for the general population that suffers from memory loss from time to time.

Green tea is loaded with many powerful antioxidants that are thought to be the reason for this memory improvement in users. The truth is that green tea has many health benefits, as it provides arthritis pain relief, wards off the flu and colds, helps prevent cancers, decreases cholesterol, and now is believed to help with age-related memory loss. The reasons for drinking green tea are many, and memory improvement is just one of them.
