Family card games are a great idea for any family fun night. All you need is a good sized table, comfy chairs, a deck of cards, and some snacks. The fun creates itself. Most card games are endlessly fun and easy to learn.

Classic Family Card Games

There are many card games that can be played simply with a regular deck of cards. My parents have been in a group that has played bridge for over twenty years now. I know of a lot of other regular canasta players. With the kids, I like to play Go Fish or Crazy Eights. I even like to sneak in a few hands of poker.

Fundeck makes a lot of great family card games. Among my favorites are Uno, Skip Bo and Phase Ten. Uno and Skip Bo are great to play with younger kids. In both, players match colors or numbers to play cards. Phase Ten is more like Rummy, where players must draw certain combinations of cards each round.

It seemed so strange at first to play a French card game, but Milles Bornes is really fun too. The premise is that players are traveling cross-country and encounter various road side obstacles. There is some luck to the draw, but there are plenty of opportunities to use strategy against opponents.
