Catamaran sailing is an experience like no other. These boats were designed to have minimum surface area in contact with the water, contributing to increased speed and deck space. These are ideal crafts for day excursions and island-hopping.

Every catamaran has a large, flat, and comfortable deck, which makes them great for launching water-sports, like diving and snorkeling. People who simply want to soak up the sun will find that they have plenty of space to do so. These are great excursion vehicles, suited to pleasure and relaxation.

Take a Catamaran Sailing Course

A good sailing school will offer a course in catamaran sailing. You will learn the subtle distinctions between such standard sailboats as the J21 and a "cruising cat." The different types of craft handle quite differently, necessitating a separate course for cat handling.

In a catamaran sailing course, you learn sailing basics like wind theory, as well as tide and current skills. You will also learn how to effectively deal with a capsized craft and how to come to a halt, even in wind. These boats are great fun, and a course in sailing a catamaran can be the experience of a lifetime.
