Omc Cobra Carburetor Kits

OMC Cobra carburetor kits contain all of the necessary parts to make repairs on an OMC sterndrive Cobra engine. Sterndrive carburetors are different from outboard carburetors, and use different parts, as well. The parts in OMC Cobra carburetor kits cannot be substituted for comparable outboard carburetor parts, as they simply will not fit.

In fact, what OMC Cobra carburetor kit you buy will depend on the model year of your engine. The details regarding what kit is suitable for your engine can be found in OMC Cobra parts books. Parts books will also contain detailed disassembly and part replacement instructions.

OMC Cobra sterndrives were first shipped in 1985, and were a great improvement over the existing stringer mount drives. A full launch of the Cobra, however, was delayed until other manufacturers were able to reduce their inventories of the old stringer drives in 1986. The Cobra was produced until 1993, when it was replaced by SX and DP sterndrive designs.

Obtaining OMC Cobra Carburetor Kits and Other OMC Parts

Though the Cobra line was discontinued in 1993, Cobra parts are still readily available. Since OMC declared bankruptcy in 2000, Bombardier has become the main supplier of Cobra parts, including OMC Cobra carburetor kits. OMC parts are now available wherever Bombardier's Johnson/Evinrude products are sold.
