Virgin Island Yacht ChartersWritten by Jamie Carpenter Virgin Island yacht charters may be the greatest way to explore one of the most beautiful spots on earth. Ever since Christopher Columbus visited this region in 1493, and named it 11,000 Virgins, this area has been beckoning visitors with her serene, seductive beauty. Sparkling waters, calm seas and plenty of delightful islands for picnicking and exploration make this string of volcanic and coral islands a perfect tropical holiday spot. The islands themselves exploded volcanically from the bottom of the sea nearly 25 million years ago. Today, all but one of the British Virgin Islands remains volcanic. They are hilly and green, and remarkably uninhabited. Many of these islands, inlets and cays are reachable only by boat, making yacht charters an obvious choice for those that want to get the most out of their holiday vacation. In terms of "off season" travel, the weather year round is actually pretty constant. The temperatures in off-season months are only a few degrees warmer, though they are much more humid. Nonetheless, many islands actually schedule their many of their most delightful carnivals, music festivals and the like in the off-season, making Virgin Island yacht charters a wonderful vacation choice nearly year round.
