Civil War Information

Civil War information is intriguing because historians have yet to agree on the exact cause of the war. They know it was regarding slavery and freedom. They also know that it was about economic, social, psychological, and political conflict, rather than about class.

The Civil War was fought between the North and the South. The North were known as the Federal and the South were Confederates. 600,000 Americans died in this war from the 3 million who participated.

ID tags are very important for soldiers in war, yet no Government issued ID tags were ever found, an interesting bit of Civil War information. There was a need for soldiers to be identified so that families could be informed and status of the soldier was known. Therefore, soldiers purchased and engraved their own ID tags so they could later be identified if they died in the war.
