HistoryWritten by Jill Morrison History is defined as the knowledge of past events. As a subject to be studied, it is considered to be the academic discipline of understanding or interpreting past events. Historians study and document these past events as accurately as possible. Types of History StudyA family tree documents the history of a family. Family information can be found in Census, Immigration, Military, Birth, Marriage, and Death Records. Information can also be obtained through historical newspapers, Biographies, and by asking relatives for information. Many historical events are documented in books, movie, documentaries, articles, essays, and in speeches. Events must usually be considered remarkable to be documented. For example, the technological progress through the years and the achievements of past Presidents are interesting and have shaped how we live today. Some of the most fascinating events in history include war and how it has affected lives in the past and present. The Civil War is particularly fascinating because it was fought by Americans on American soil. The results or each war through time has shaped the progress of America as a nation.
