Military medals act as a trophy for excellent service in the military. They can be circular with a ribbon for wearing around the neck, or can be worn as a pin. They can be made from silver, gold, bronze, or brass.

Types of Military Medals

They are approximately twenty types of military medals. Medals can be awarded to members of the armed services for various reasons. Most are considered to be distinguished and difficult to earn.

Medals are placed in a certain order in the military. The Medal of Honor is the highest military medal. Other notable awards are the Purple Heart, the Silver Star, and the Distinguished Service Cross.

Some medals can be won more easily than others. For instance, there are medals simply for good conduct. Military medals are given for every branch of the military, including the Women's Army Corps.
