New River Rafting

New River rafing is simply fantastic. If you are craving some great outdoor fun, that will stimulate your senses and leave your heart racing, than you have to check out whitewater rafting on the New River. West Virginia is home to the Gauley and New Rivers, both of which provide some of the most outstanding rapids you could ever want.

In fact, the New River has been dubbed the "Grand Canyon of the East". It has 52 miles of world-class rapids that offer both technical difficulty and exceptional natural beauty that can only be found here, in West Virginia. The 2001 World Rafting Championships were held on the New and Gauley Rivers, as were the 2002 National Rafting Championships. In a nutshell, New River rafting is one of the best three season sports around.

Give New River Rafting a Whirl

If you think that you do not have enough confidence or skills to tackle New River rafting, think again. You can sign up for some lessons in whitewater rafting, or even go on a guided tour down the river with a professional river rafting guide. There are different sections of the river that offer varying degrees of difficulty, so you can choose a trip that is suitable for your comfort and skill level.

Keep in mind that if you are traveling with children under the age of five, they will not be permitted to participate in New River rafting. However, there is no need to fret because there are lots of other age-appropriate activities for youngsters, such as fishing, swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, and games. You will simply enjoy every minute that you spend in and around the New River in West Virginia.
