Round trampolines are used for training in a number of other sports. For gymnastics and trampolining, however, rectangular trampolines are just about always the way to go. The main reason for this is the superior bounce that you get with the rectangular shape. Round and square trampolines provide a harsher bounce.

Many trampoline companies report that their most popular product is a 16' rectangular trampoline. The larger the trampoline the softer the bounce, and this can be essential for all kinds of athletic training. The more you can reduce impact of any kind, the better.
