Childrens Body PillowsWritten by Christa Gatewood We all want our children to wake in the morning feeling rested and energized to enjoy the day. However, some children have a hard time falling asleep or staying asleep, or sleep in positions that leave their bodies sore in the morning. For these children, a good option may be a body pillow. A body pillow is a large kid-sized pillow that a child can snuggle with at bedtime. Hugging a pillow while sleeping can help promote proper positioning of a child's body during sleep. Often it is the positioning alone that can help ease a child into slumber. Additionally, sleeping in a correct position will prevent a child from waking up with sore muscles and joints. Children's Body Pillows Can Be Security ObjectsSome children have anxiety about going to sleep that expresses itself in restlessness, mood changes at bedtime, frequent wake-ups, and other sleep problems. This anxiety may stem from a lack of consistent bedtime routine, fear of separation, or over stimulation. One tip experts suggest to help children fall asleep is to introduce a security object to the child. Body pillows are a perfect choice for a security object. They are soft, cuddly, and boast kid-friendly designs. If a child associates sleep time with a comfy body pillow it may help ease the child's anxiety in the same way a parent in the room would. Body pillows, however, should only be used for children two years old or older as they can pose a suffocating hazard for very small children.
