Sound conditioners come at a variety of price points. The "top of the line" sound conditioners have a lot of very helpful features. For example, the Marpac Company makes a line of sound conditioners called Marsona® that have a variety of options that allow you to customize the sound emitted by the machine.

Being able to program a sound conditioner is a very useful quality because everybody is different. Some people may be soothed by the sound of a waterfall but find the sound of a train irritating. When it comes to creating a soothing sound landscape, having many options to choose from can make all the difference.

Programmable Sound Conditioners

The programmable sound conditioners can be more expensive than their simpler counterparts, but they are well worth the investment. Who can quantify how much a good night's sleep is worth? For someone who consistently sleeps well, it might not be that important; for someone who has sleep problems, it is priceless.

Some of the options that are available for programming include which sound is heard, if there is an overlaying sound and if so, what it is, the volume, and if the machine will be automatically shut off. Some of the base sounds include a brook, the sound of rain, a waterfall, a variety of wave sounds and several others. The automatic shut off is a great feature because it turns off the machine after you have already fallen asleep. This conserves battery power and for some it may help aid in staying asleep.
