Fibromyalgia Treatment

Fibromyalgia treatment is a difficult subject, since medical science has thus far been able to do relatively little with this disorder. The lack of "traditional" treatment options is based in the fact that, well, the facts of the condition are rather elusive. No one knows just exactly why the condition appears in the first place.

For those suffering from fibromyalgia, this is of little comfort. Luckily, while there are no ways to attack the disorder itself, there are ways to mitigate the effects of the symptoms. These symptoms include feelings of fatigue, muscle soreness and pain, insomnia, and depression.

Fibromyalgia Treatment Options

One way to battle these symptoms is through exercise. When done in small doses, low impact workouts can have very positive effects on muscle condition and sleep efficiency. Such programs should be started slowly, to avoid excess strain on delicate muscles.

Another fibromyalgia treatment through which to deal with muscle soreness is to take dietary supplements containing magnesium--which is a common mineral deficiency--or thiamine, like benfotiamine (which, for reasons that are not entirely clear, does seem to help with fibromyalgia symptoms). For depression and insomnia, one might wish to consult a physician with regards to sleeping pills or medications which regulate the body's serotonin.
