Certain foods are believed to be linked with prostate cancer, and they include red meats, eggs, and dairy products. All of these foods may contain high amounts of saturated fat, which is linked with the development of prostate cancer, and many other cancers as well. High fat foods can cause arteriosclerosis, which is when the arteries become clogged with plaque and fatty deposits.

When arteriosclerosis takes effect, poor circulation is the result. This can lead to cancer because the vitamins and minerals in digested food cannot travel well through clogged arteries, which means that many cells in the body are deprived of adequate nutrition as well as oxygen. Being active is key to maintaining a healthy weight and preventing cancer. If possible, try to get in 30 minutes of exercise at least five days a week for adequate protection.

Living a Healthy Lifestyle for Prostate Cancer Prevention

Exercise can also help manage stress, which can wreak havoc on one's health if left to its own devices. It is also a good idea to abstain from smoking entirely and to limit alcohol intake. Supplements such as saw palmetto, CoQ10, zinc, selenium, and lycopene may help you gain an edge over prostate cancer as well. It is always a good idea to talk to your doctor about the best supplements to take for cancer prevention. In addition, make sure you get tested once a year for prostate cancer starting as young as 35, as this is your best defense against beating cancer. Early stage prostate cancer is much more treatable than advanced stage prostate cancer, so make it a point to get tested annually.
