Cholesterol Reducing DietWritten by Patricia Skinner The Pattern of a Cholesterol Reducing DietIn the parts of the world where people consume large amounts of meat and dairy products, such as the United States and much of Europe, we find extremely high rates of heart disease and the attendant circulatory diseases. To the contrary, in parts of the world where people eat a lot of foods in their natural state, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and large amounts of olive oil and other monounsaturates, we find far lower rates of heart disease and degenerative diseases. This state of affairs more-or-less spells it out to us. A good cholesterol reducing diet will include plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, a good amount of fresh cold-pressed oils such as olive oil, and healthy whole grains. Meat and dairy will be kept to a minimum, as this is generally considered to be safer by most experts today. Unfortunately, this means that in general, it's best to avoid eating out, particularly fast food restaurants. Most restaurants use processed oils and animal fat with importunity. The high levels of fat may make foods taste good, but over time, this way of eating can have a devastating effect on your health. Fast food is no good for a cholesterol reducing diet! Cholesterol Levels Not Shifting? If, despite sticking to a well-thought-out cholesterol reducing diet and a moderate exercise program, you are still not seeing any improvement in your cholesterol levels, you may be one of those people who has an underlying hereditary disorder that prevents even the best diet from lowering LDL levels. It is possible that special enzymes can help to block cholesterol activity. You might want to consult a natural practitioner about it. Nuts can make a great addition to a cholesterol reducing diet. But probably not the kind you'll find in the supermarket. To be of any use to your body, nuts must be very fresh and unprocessed; uncooked and unsalted. In their natural state, they can provide a nutrient-dense snack, and some of the best oils to be found anywhere.
