Chromax is a brand name variant of a popular weight reducing supplement. Its generic name is chromium picolinate. It has not been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Chromax is marketed as a treatment for weight control, enhanced energy and general wellness.

If you are overweight and are considering Chromax to help you reduce, you should consult your health care practitioner to determine if it is right for you. Because weight control is critical to minimizing the risk of heart disease, Chromax might be appropriate for you and a viable component of your cholesterol reducing program. Your doctor is qualified to make that determination.

How Chromax Works

Chromium picolinate is a complex of the naturally occurring metabolite picolinic acid and the essential trace mineral chromium. It is a very digestible and readily absorbed form of chromium, which is indispensable to processing saturated fats and regulating insulin balance in the bloodstream. Chromax used as a supplement, then, gives you the additional chromium you might need to help better process glucose (blood sugar) and use its energy efficiently.

Clinical study results, and there have been twelve of Chromax, indicate that the most effective daily dose ranges from 200 to 400 mg for an adult. You are likely to see metabolic results anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks into your Chromax treatment. This period will of course vary depending on a host of other factors your doctor will explain to you.

Insofar as side effects are concerned, none have been noted in the approximate 10 billion doses of chromium picolinate reportedly taken since it has been available.
