Coronary Heart Disease Prevention Facts

Heart disease is on the rise. Never before in the history of humankind have we experienced such rampant heart disease. Not only that, but younger and younger people are suffering from heart attacks. Physicians are even telling us that children as young as eight years old are showing signs of arterial plaque--the condition which is thought to lead to heart disease.

So the subject of coronary heart disease prevention is pretty important to all of us. Unfortunately it's never too early to start thinking about it. The sooner we learn how to keep our heart healthy, the better. Although it's a debatable fact, the general consensus of opinion is that keeping cholesterol levels down will help in the battle for coronary heart disease prevention.

Keeping Cholesterol Levels Down

So it makes sense to try and keep cholesterol levels down. The good news is that the very lifestyle changes suggested to keep cholesterol levels down, will make you healthier in general. They will also contribute in other ways to coronary heart disease prevention, by keeping the blood and muscles healthy and by keeping your body systems functioning well.

We all know what those lifestyle changes are: Eating a diet that's low on processed and fatty foods, including only natural, pure and high grade oils, and eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. If you smoke, you definitely have to take steps to kick the habit. Exercise is also very important, even if you can only manage a leisurely stroll. Try to make sure that you keep moving no matter what, and no matter how slowly.
