Fitness accessories run the gamut from pedometers that speak to you in a pleasant voice to heart rate monitors that are running computers or that use infrared technology to let you download information to your computer. When it comes to modern fitness accessories, if you can imagine it, or if you need it, it's probably out there in someone's product lineup. In recent years, with the zooming interest in exercise, monitors, calipers, scales, and watches, the fitness industry has been producing lightweight, state-of-the-art instruments.

Sportline makes a Nightlight Electronic Walking 348 Pedometer that alerts everyone to your presence with a flashing or solid red light. It also gives you your distance in miles or kilometers, counts steps and distance traveled, and records from 1/100 of a mile to 1,000 miles on a large, easy-to-read display. Obviously, today's pedometers do more than count steps!

Useful Fitness Accessories

Some features on some items may seem extravagant, but their purpose is to provide detailed information about your body's responses or your performance. These measurements do, in fact, guide you through your workouts so you stay in your targeted heart zone (intensity level) for maximum benefit. By letting you know when you leave your heart zone, these features enable you to consistently exercise at the right level.

The numbers and rates and counts that flash on the displays of fitness accessories do something even more valuable for your morale. It is very satisfying to see actual measurements--objective proof--of how well we are doing. When the same numbers flash and you feel your workout is too easy, you know it's time to move on to the next challenge.
