Goodness knows that you do not need to do more than flick on the television or open up a magazine to hear about weight loss plans. Gee, there is the Atkins Diet, the South Beach Diet, The Zone Diet, and on and on the story goes. It is no wonder why people are so confused about how to get in shape, lose body fat, increase muscle mass, and basically get a slim body.

The truth of the matter is, no diet will work if you do not exercise. Going beyond that concept is the fact that if you do not get enough carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in your diet on a daily basis, your body will suffer. People think that fat makes them fat, or eating too many carbs makes them fat. What makes one fat is eating more calories than one expends.

This is great news for all of you out there who love bread and pasta, and cannot imagine life without the occasional order of McDonald's French fries. If you get in weekly workouts that focus on cardiovascular exercise and strength training, you can pretty much have treats without the guilt. Of course, this does not mean you can eat a gallon of ice cream every night because you hit the gym for an hour. Moderation is the key to the best weight loss plans.

Valid Weight Loss Plans

Whether you have five pounds to lose or 50, the key to your success is physical exercise. When you work up a sweat through Pilates or jogging or power walking, you burn calories that will eventually trim inches off your body. No one said getting in shape would be easy, but with dedication and effort on your part, you can have the body you want.
