Male Pattern BaldnessWritten by Liza HartungIf you ever ask a man what he fears most, the first thing that will likely jump into his head is male pattern baldness. This may not be the answer he gives, but he's thinking it. Even though we see hundreds of men every day who look just fine, sexy even, with their balding heads, it is still something men do not want to happen. They will fret over it forever. Is there anything that can be done? Yes. There are literally hundreds of treatments available for male pattern baldness. Here's the catch, though. You have to wait and see if it is going to happen to you before you start treatment. Well, I guess you could start treatment before that point, but if you never had the balding gene, then you end up just wasting your money. You can make a fairly educated guess if you are going to experience pattern baldness by looking at your family history. If you see a lot of bald men, you are very likely to be next. Hope for Male Pattern BaldnessIf you are one of the many men to have male pattern baldness, do not worry so much that you start to lose more hair. There are treatments out there. Some are oral and some are topical. The thing with these treatments is that you have to continue them as long as you want your hair not to fall out. When you stop using the treatment, your body will continue to have your hair fall out and not grow back. The reason for this is a little hormone called dihydrotestosterone, or DHT. It is the hormone that gives your facial hair and assists in male reproductive organ growth when you are young. As you age, however, it starts to attach to hair follicles, eventually blocking the blood supply to the hair. This means that the hair cannot grow back. The good news is that the follicles are not dead. Therefore, with proper treatment, there is the possibility that you can stop the balding in its tracks and maybe even re-grow some hair.
