Want to do a Liver Detox?

The liver is your body's center for detoxification. If your liver has become clogged with toxins from the environment, medications and even your food, it can no longer do its job of protecting you from harmful elements. Manifestations of a toxic liver are headaches, lethargy and even allergies to name a few. If you are suffering from any of these, and if you know you've been exposed to a lot of toxic material, then it might be time to start thinking about a liver detox.

The best thing you can do on a daily basis is make sure you drink plenty of water. This is essential to any form of liver detox. Most experts recommend at least 8 large glasses of water daily. If you are very overweight, and you have a toxic system, you should probably plan on drinking more than this. Of course you need to make sure that the water you drink is of high quality. There are hundreds of different opinions about what kind of water is best. Tap water is a bad idea because it is chock full of chlorine, pesticides and usually fluoride. These are all elements that will further clog your liver.

Don't drink distilled water for longer than a few days at a time. It will pull toxins out of your system, but it will also pull essential minerals and trace elements too. You need these, so keep distilled water to a minimum. The best solution is probably a reverse osmosis filter, unless you happen to live right next door to a spring! But of course, water is only part of the liver detox story.

Removing Detox Hindrances

Again, you will need to eliminate all hydrogenated fats and processed oils from your diet. These are all poison to the liver. Stick to pure virgin olive oil, always cold pressed, and fresh butter. These will give you health and butter will not raise your cholesterol levels. Try it without the trans fatty acids and see!

A detox pouch made with material from the Korean mandarin tree is said to be very helpful in the liver detox process. Placed in contact with the skin, these pouches can absorb toxins, leaving the body cleaner and reducing pain. The best place to use it would be on the soles of the feet (holding in place for several hours), but it can also be placed over any painful spot on the body.
