There are numerous low carb stores on the Worldwide Web, that sell low carb meals as well as low carb diet plans to people who are trying to lose weight. While low carb diets are not necessarily bad for the short term, they are not a good plan to follow for the long term. It has been suggested by many medical professionals that omitting carbs, especially complex carbs from the diet, can be risky.

This does not seem to stop the low carb stores from selling their products. However, it is important that consumers understand the risks and benefits associated with eating a low carb diet. It helps to discuss the types of foods that are considered carbohydrates, and exactly what these foods can do for the body.

Busy Low Carb Stores

Okay, let's first discuss what carbohydrates are. Complex carbohydrates are found in foods such as fresh fruits and veggies, legumes, and whole grain oats. These foods naturally contain many vitamins and minerals, as well as fiber and antioxidants. They also tend to be low in calories and fat, which make them ideal diet foods.

These complex carbs supply the body with the necessary nutrition that helps the immune system fight off illness and disease, and the cells fight free radical damage, which is a cause of cancer. If these foods are omitted from the diet, the body suffers. Low carb stores don't always mention this in their push to get consumers to purchase their low carb diets.
