Sphygmomanometers

Sphygmomanometers are another name for blood pressure kits. Most people like to use the latter term since the former is extremely difficult to pronounce. The majority of people with hypertension prefer to use digital blood pressure kits for their comparative ease of use.

Digital sphygmomanometers are battery operated and are a cinch to use. A wrap-around cuff is placed on the upper arm, and then you simply push the start button. Both the systolic and diastolic numbers are read, and the numbers are displayed on an easy-to-read digital display. When the machine is done taking your blood pressure, it turns off by itself, so you do not have to guess when to shut it off.

In addition, these sphygmomanometers are designed to be used with one hand, so the user does not need assistance when taking his or her blood pressure reading. The machine will record the last blood pressure reading taken, so you can compare results. This is extremely helpful in allowing patients to track their results without having to write down numbers.

Sphygmomanometers for Home Use

If you or someone you know suffers from hypertension, you really can benefit from using a blood pressure kit at home. Most doctors will recommend that patients keep track of their blood pressure throughout the day, so they can follow the proper procedure should it get too high. Blood pressure kits are sold through retailers that sell medical products and equipment.
