Addictions

Addictions are suffered by millions of people. Even after decades of advances in treatment, and more public awareness of the problem than ever, they continue. There has to be a reason for such a widespread problem. Many blame it on stress. Others blame it on the fundamental difficulties of life: grief and loss. Others say it's mostly a matter of personality and genetics.

The specific causes of addiction vary from person to person, of course. Regardless, solutions are in order. Luckily, there are many, many success stories. Many people who have recovered from drug addictions or alcoholism cite the entire experience as one of the great lessons of their lives.

Learning from Our Addictions
This is not to say that addictions are recommended for personal growth! However, through treatment for addiction, we learn a lot about ourselves. Facets of our personalities that were previously unknown to us may become clear and understandable through therapy. These insights may then help us manage life better, enabling us to cast off the addiction from our new position of strength.

From addiction therapy, obstacles that previously seemed insurmountable can become manageable. We are able to triumph over our demons and our fears, building a new confidence and love for ourselves. Transforming ourselves and the way we see the world, our relationships with others thereby become easier, happier, and ultimately more rewarding.
