The fact is that there are many different back pain solutions that both prevent and alleviate common aches and pains associated with the spine. While back pain commonly affects individuals over the age of 45, it is still important for people at every age to understand how to deal with back pain as soon as it reveals itself. Preventative measures such as daily stretches, yoga, and weekly workout routines will help strengthen the muscles surrounding the spine and decrease the chances of feeling back pain in the future.

When back pain is felt after lifting something heavy or during an athletic endeavor, it is likely that the muscles surrounding the spine have been torn. In order to prevent further inflammation, a cold pack or belt should be applied before further back pain solutions are used. The cold will reduce swelling and help increase the rate of healing until it is time to stretch, massage or rest.

Back Pain Solutions to Chronic Aches

When continuous pain is experienced, some people choose to take a trip to the chiropractor to adjust the bones of the spine and to reduce nerve pressure throughout the back. An adjustment can be done on a regular basis (every few months or so) as a preventative measure. Other people choose to come into a chiropractor's office as soon as any pain or discomfort is felt and only when it is truly necessary.

Things other than pinched nerves, such as a duodenal ulcer, may also be the cause of many back pains. In these cases, or when structural damage like a herniated disc is diagnosed, a chiropractor will do no good. Performing an x-ray or M.R.I. (magnetic resonance imaging) will help determine the actual cause of the pain and whether surgical back pain solutions are necessary.
