Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, or CFIDS, is a disease associated with chronic fatigue and chronic fatigue syndrome. The symptoms associated with CFIDS can cause sufferers' lives to become unproductive and unhealthy and have devastating effects on their relationships. CFIDS sufferers also can face a lot of shame from simply feeling tired all the time, but there is much more to this disease than fatigue.

CFIDS sufferers experience debilitating fatigue, concentration and memory problems and very low stamina. Muscle and joint pain, sore throat, headaches and not feeling refreshed after sleep are all symptoms of CFIDS. All these symptoms are also common symptoms of many other diseases, making the diagnosis and treatment of CFIDS very difficult.

Treating CFIDS

Usually people suffering from CFIDS want to treat the symptoms first. Treating the symptoms helps people with CFIDS come out of the fog, so to speak, so that they can learn more about their disease and get on with their lives. Antidepressants are often prescribed to people with fatigue problems because the antidepressants often promote better sleep and alertness. With the weight of the fatigue lifted, many CFIDS sufferers find that their drive to treat their disease is restored.

There is no cure for CFIDS, but there are ways to curb the effects that require great lifestyle changes. Identifying which foods make you tired and listless is a good place to start because they will intensify the effects of CFIDS. Increased exercise will also help lessen the effects of CFIDS. Exercising will be difficult at first, but gradual increases in activity will drastically improve stamina levels.
