Natural Supplements

Natural supplements are available for a variety of ailments. Unfortunately, it can sometimes be difficult to sort out what is of legitimate value from all the hype that products receive. As there is no government body, such as the FDA, to regulate the sale of natural supplements, it is important that you do your homework before putting too much faith in them.

Some Common Natural Supplements

Several products are available that claim to help with joint pain, such as glucosamine and chondroitin. While these supplements have a proven anti-inflammatory effect, there is not yet a conclusive medical opinion about whether or not they halt the progression of osteoarthritis. As many of these supplements are not very expensive to try, you may want to use them for a few months to see if they have any noticeable effect on the level of your joint pain.

Vitamins are a popular natural supplement. Since we all have different tastes and diets, it is possible that we are not getting enough of the essential vitamins that our bodies need. Vitamin C (which is necessary for the production of collagen) and Vitamin E (a known antioxidant) are both commonly available in nutritional supplements. Some of these supplements are synthetic, while others are natural. While either option contains the vitamin that you need, natural supplements are more efficiently used by the body.

Natural supplements are available for a variety of conditions, ranging from problems sleeping to lagging energy. Other supplements may help with weight loss or improve your memory. The only way to know if many of these products will help you at all is to try them. Just be sure not to succumb to the placebo effect and believe that something works just because you are taking it. Checking in with a doctor about whether you are being safe and about what you can expect is always the best idea.
